Being an MC is no easy task. You have to be confident, a great speaker, energetic, a quick thinker, a keen audience observer and so much more. And you have to juggle all these skills flawlessly. MC Raina Dsouza makes it look effortless and natural, such is her prowess.
Speaking about how she got into this profession, Raina says, “My teachers in school always encouraged me to play an MC but I never thought I would chose it as my profession. Today it’s my passion more than profession.” Additionally having an Uncle who is also an MC encouraged her to go down this path, with the guidance and support of family and friends.
Despite the challenging task of being an MC and hosting events of different kinds, Raina thoroughly enjoys it. “I have organised all kinds of events and every event has its own charm. I get along with different people with ease. So, playing different roles at different events has never been a constraint.” Recollecting a particular event, she says, “I hosted the “Meet and Greet” session with Mr. Anil Kumble, and words of appreciation from this eminent person motivated me to work harder and set higher goals in life.”
As is the case in any profession, Raina has had her share of ups and downs. Describing one such instance she says, “December 2015 was a busy month. I had two events back to back on the 14th that went very well but the following day I had to travel about thirty-five kilometres in traffic to reach the venue. I was late by half an hour, even though I had left on time. I was very nervous to start the event right away but nevertheless it was one more successful event to add to my list.”
Apart from her hosting skills, Raina is also adept at playing the keyboard, and spends her free time on it. She is versatile not only in her role as an MC, but her artistic abilities as well.
Dedicated to the cause of women empowerment, Raina strongly believes that women are equal to men, and their success in today’s times proves it.
Diligent, committed and steadfast in her resolve, Raina is not one to give up. “When you are going after your dream, you are trying something that is totally wild. Don’t compare your chapter one to someone else’s chapter twenty. The beginning stages had a few tumbles but I kept going.”

Constantly working to improve by learning something new regularly, Raina is in competition only with herself. “I want to grow day by day and set higher goals for the future. I review my plans and make sure that they fit the way I want to live my life.”

A few chosen words of advice from Raina, “Choose to live your dream. There will be many obstacles on the path you choose. If you are 100% committed you will surely accomplish it.”
While Raina Dsouza might make it look easy, there is tremendous hard work and fierce spirit behind her success. Not all have what it takes, and that’s what makes her the one among the many.
