Here we are today – against all the odds; against everyone who underestimated us. Two successful, self made entrepreneurs, the founders of a successful business venture – The Luxe Affaire.”
The Luxe Affaire is a premium online retail concept that provides exclusive fashion from designers across the globe. Their one of a kind merchandise ranges from high-end couture to luxury embellishments that caters to a global clientele. The desire to set up something of their own, despite having successful jobs, led to The Luxe Affaire. Meticulous in their approach, Aditi and Shruti worked hard, brainstormed and finally came up with this business idea. Explaining the process and motivation behind The Luxe Affaire, Aditi says, “The Luxe Affaire did not just happen to us; it was a well thought out business plan that needed drive and encouragement to be executed. Both of us have always been allured by the entire concept of creating a relationship between Fashion, Style and Luxury. The birth of the company was from a collective decision taken by us, instinctively yet strategically.” Given their personal affinity to fashion, the right education (Entrepreneurship, Leadership & Global Management from London School of Economics and MBA in Customer Relations, E-Commerce & International Marketing from Cardiff Business School) and business acumen, the fashion luxury segment forms a perfect fit.
Their love affair with fashion is one that dates back to their childhood. “As children, we were always very fashion conscious, although majority of the styling came from our mom and dad. Our style has developed over the years, and we believe that our personal style throws light on our identity; it defines who we are.” Both sisters have modeled, in fact their first ever fashion show was with ‘Weekender’ in the 7th standard. They have worked with prominent designers including Ramesh Dembla and Nick Roshan. Aditi has even been featured in leading fashion magazines like Harpers Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Grazia among others. It almost seems like everything they did was in preparation for The Luxe Affaire. It was meant to be. Commenting on the experience, Shruti says, “Well it definitely did add an element to our lives and being a part of the glitz and glamour was certainly something that pushed us into doing what we set out to do.”
The Luxe Affaire did not just happen to us; it was a well thought out business plan that needed drive and encouragement to be executed.
Their differences complement each other, creating a balance that is the best of both. “We are quite similar and different at the same time. With respect to our skill set, we’ve acquired a particular set of skills each, which are very different from the other and it works in our favour every single time.”
Aditi and Shruti are looking to blaze ahead and set trends. Sharing their plans, they say, “Fashion is a language that reflects your personality, it creates an identity for yourself and is something that comes from within. We aim to establish that, with the designs we bring in every year. We want people to develop their styles and stay in trend, without going heavy on their pockets!” They are working to open their line of retail outlets across India, and hope to take their brand international. With big dreams in their eyes, these brilliant sisters will definitely go places.
Aditi Sarin and Shruti Sarin didn’t pay heed to the naysayers. They did their thing, with honesty, passion, and determination. A Bold step that paid off in more ways than one, for today they stand tall, proud, and confident.
