Raashi Anand is an established, recognized, award winning entrepreneur. This spirited young woman is such a success because of her ardent desire to help those in need. She founded the NGO Lakshyam along with her mother to help women and children belonging to at-risk communities with respect to education, development and employment. Raashi even runs her own Advertising and Event Management Agency, Mirrorz.
For Raashi, going down this path was natural. She says, “Yes, this is what I have always wanted to do. I was born and brought up in an environment where I have seen my mother reaching out to people in need. I could never think of anything else.”
Yes, this is what I have always wanted to do. I was born and brought up in an environment where I have seen my mother reaching out to people in need. I could never think of anything else.”
But, her noble intentions to champion a social cause and start an NGO were met with a unique set of problems. Raashi says, “Starting at an early age, a major problem I found was that few took me seriously as people tend to get into this field at a later stage in their lives. To establish the authenticity of the NGO was tough too. But I could do it because of the support from my family and friends.”
I truly believe, had my mother not been there, doing all this, I would have never become the person I am today. She has been my inspiration and constant support.”
Raashi’s mother has been a strong influence in her life, playing a big role in shaping her philanthropic nature. Travels with her mother to remote areas during her childhood opened her eyes to harsh realities that others with less have to face. “I truly believe, had my mother not been there, doing all this, I would have never become the person I am today. She has been my inspiration and constant support.”
A true humanitarian, Raashi dreams only of reaching out and helping more people. “I just wish to continue what I am doing with Lakshyam. I know I can’t reach each and every human who is suffering, but no contribution is small. I also don’t look at anything in a special way. I just want to help people.”
Inspiring others wanting to be a social entrepreneur or start an NGO, she says, “I completely live by the quote ‘Be the Change you wish to see in the world’. If you don’t become that change yourself, it is impossible for you to make any change in the world. You need to be selfless. Your heart must beat for the people and not just for yourself. The rest is up to God!”
Raashi Anand is driven by one aim only – better the lives of others. She chose a difficult path, one where the benefits go to others, one where her work is rewarded in smiles and happiness, one where the challenges are immense. But she stays focused and driven. The mark of an indisputably Bold person.
