Daisy Clark is so hungry that she feels her stomach is twisting itself; an insatiable craving so strong that nothing fills it, except her crazy passion for music. So powerful is her love for it that she bursts into song every chance she gets. Her euphoria, as she strums her guitar and sings is so infectious that it’s gained a huge following for her YouTube channel with over 8 million views.
My dream is to become a professional musician/singer songwriter, but it’s also always been my reality. I’ve always known this is what I want to do, without a doubt! And that motivated me to consistently gig, upload YouTube videos, and write songs.”
With her songs gaining momentum rapidly, Daisy has amassed a fan-base that can’t get enough of her music. She says, “I get asked so much on YouTube where people can buy/stream my music, so I think it’s time to get something together!” Daisy is packed with bookings during the summer because of music festivals, as it’s the best time to perform. With her crowd-pulling performance at the Boardmasters Music Festival last year, she is hopeful of doing many more music festivals in 2017.
Music to this young singer-songwriter is a mood up-lifter and safety net. She explains, “Music to me is safety and comfort. Bad mood? Put on my favourite album. Angry? Grab my guitar and write a song about it. Happy? Put on an upbeat playlist, etc. It’s always there for me and can help in many situations.” Just as Daisy leans on music to fix her mood, she falls back on her family and best friend for support. Daisy says, “My mum is amazingly supportive. She comes to 99% of my gigs, drives us to venues, and helps me set up along with my sister and best friend. I don’t recall ever having doubts from my family about my career choice.”

The bold decision to take up music professionally is a risky move; hence, out of concern her close friends were wary of her big move. “They said I should have a back-up plan, or that it’s a one in a million chance I’ll be successful, but there was no other option for me, it’s always been music and I was always willing to take the risk.” But, all corners of Daisy’s mind was so thoroughly occupied with music that she didn’t doubt her decision or hesitate even for a moment. She elaborates, “My dream is to become a professional musician/singer songwriter, but it’s also always been my reality. I’ve always known this is what I want to do, without a doubt! And that motivated me to consistently gig, upload YouTube videos, and write songs.”
Learning is when one absorbs ideas, and builds on the inspiration derived from others, and that is exactly what Daisy feels Dodie Clark (popular YouTube music sensation) did for her. Daisy was inspired by Dodie Clark to share her music on YouTube, which has given a huge boost to her music career. In terms of music, Daisy is inspired by The 1975, Gabrielle Aplin, and Corinne Bailey Rae. She also credits Taylor Swift saying, “If you’d asked me this a few years ago I would have said Taylor Swift, Taylor Swift and Taylor Swift. She most definitely inspired me to start learning the guitar and writing my own songs.”
As she grows in her profession, Daisy has learned plenty and shares her advice with others pursuing music, saying, “Be consistent! Get yourself out there at gigs/open mics. Social media is an amazing tool, so start a YouTube channel or get your songs/covers on SoundCloud. Also, take a look at Music Crowns, they shared a lot of my early videos and since then I have had over 8 Million views.”
