A soul-stirring voice that washes over you and puts you in a trance. Raghav Meattle who appeared on season 2 of ‘The Stage’ (a reality TV show for English music) and made it to the semi-finals is a singer-songwriter whose dreamy green eyes and mesmerizing voice make hearts flutter.
Encouraged by his parents, Raghav took to music at a young age. He says, “I started singing from a very early age. I also learnt Hindustani classical music and the keyboard for a few years. I only started taking music seriously in college when I was a part of a band called ‘The Uncertainty Principle’ and started playing at a lot of college competitions. By the end of my second year, we were winning most of the competitions and playing gigs across the city.” After all, great talent can’t stay hidden for long.

Even before appearing on ‘The Stage’ Raghav was making a name for himself. He says, “I won best vocalist at Rendezvous IIT Delhi and BITS Goa. We played in front of 5,000 people at IIT Delhi, and opened for the Australian Progressive Rock Band ‘Dead Letter Circus’ at BITS Goa.”
The Stage has given Raghav an opportunity to showcase himself. As he says, “The Stage is an amazing platform for people to ‘break out’ and it’s been an incredible experience.” A guitarist as well, Raghav is currently working on an electro-acoustic project titled ‘Meattle & Malik’ with producer Nikhil Malik. He hopes the recognition gained from being on season 2 of ‘The Stage’ will help get his music to people. Speaking about it he says, “We haven’t pushed out our music too much. All of it happens through word of mouth. We’re going to be releasing a music video for a new single. Should start playing live very soon!”

Inspired by John Mayer, Raghav says, “John Mayer is somebody I’ve followed for long – his music is also a great inspiration! That’s the kind of stuff I see myself doing in the future.” We’re all for Raghav being India’s John Mayer! He has the voice to melt hearts.
Raghav shares his views on what it takes to be a top musician, “Everybody loves the person behind the music too! I think especially in songwriting, the personality of the musician really comes out!” His performances on ‘The Stage’ that have captivated the judges and audience alike back that.
When you are truly passionate about something, you can’t hide it, it seeps out from every pore of your body and is incredibly infectious. Raghav Meattle is proof of that. Love what you do, do what you love; success notwithstanding, you’ll have a ball of a time doing it!
