Jax is an American Idol alum who made it to the top 3 of season 14 of the show. She bowled over the judges and audience alike with her captivating voice.
For Jax, music has been at the core of her being from childhood. She says, “I grew up on musical theater, singing on stage since I was about 5 years old. The first time I ever performed rock music with a band, I was 11.” Apart from being gifted with a mesmerising voice, Jax is also a talented songwriter, the roots of which can be traced back to her younger days. “Songwriting has always been my number one outlet to express myself. Without it, I don’t know where I would find that peace and space.”
Belonging to an industry fraught with cut-throat competition, one has to be of an extremely strong disposition to survive and thrive. Jax elaborates, “It’s always been a struggle for my family and I to keep a strong head all the time. There are plenty of highs and lows. I always thought the key to staying sharp and positive is to put in your 10,000 hours.” Jax has kept her head above water by working hard and being focused.

Jax echoes the sentiment that all true devotees of music have: it’s a universal language that transcends borders, cultures, and age. “It speaks to everybody no matter who you are, how old you are, where you are on the planet, etc.”
Change is natural, necessary, and ubiquitous. Thus, even music has evolved through the ages. While some might look back fondly at the past generations of music, others love the current era. Jax shares her views on the evolution of music, “I think change is never a simple process, but nonetheless when it comes to art, it’s always a beautiful thing. I love every era of music for so many different reasons (culturally and sonically speaking).”

Jax’s EP (short album) releases on 27th January this year. She also has a few shows coming up. Looking forward to her plans ahead, she says, “I’m so excited to share some of my story with the fans, and I’m even more excited to see what 2017 has in store for all of us.”
Aspiring musicians could gain much by paying heed to Jax’s words that are drawn from her own experience. She says, “Remember that there is always something to learn until the day you die. Everybody needs to make their own mistakes on their journey in order to achieve success, but as long as you continue working, learning, and perfecting your craft, you can always say that you gave it everything.”
Jax has given music her all, because it’s where her heart lies. Make real those dreams that keep you up at night. For what is life, if not spent in the pursuit of your passion.
