Jordi Whitworth’s swooning good looks might be what catches your eye. But, what makes you stay is his enthralling voice. As an X-Factor finalist and member of the British Boy Band ‘Overload’, Jordi has proved his talent on more than one occasion.
I first performed in public when I was a part of Overload. It was at a sold out show at Wembley Arena, which was amazing.”
Music came to Jordi by chance. Before being a member of Overload, he was keenly pursuing acting and modelling, and even appeared in several British television shows like EastEnders, Big School, Law and Order. But, upon being a part of Overload, and meeting veterans of the music industry and learning about the creation of music, he fell in love. And he hasn’t looked back since then. Talking about his first public performance, he says, “I first performed in public when I was a part of Overload. It was at a sold out show at Wembley Arena, which was amazing.”
Dealing with the pressure that comes with being a part of an intensively competitive industry like music is a real test of character and will. For instance, breaking away from Overload and pursuing music on his own as a solo artist has been challenging. “Being in a band, it wasn’t so hard as I had four other boys I could depend on. Now, all of the focus is on me. It’s definitely more pressure but I love pressure and intrigued to see how things pan out.” Nonetheless, moments of doubt creep in, but Jodi’s relentless optimism is what keeps him going. Jordi says, “There have been many times when I think, maybe I am wasting my time. But in the end, the positives always outweigh the negatives.”
I always want to remind people that you never have to start at a young age to make your dreams come true. If you have enough time and dedication to pursue what you want… you will achieve it!”
For Jordi, music is not just a career, but a form of happiness. And he draws much inspiration from ‘The Weeknd’. He says, “I love his music, it is so dark and unique.”
A bright future ahead of him, Jordi shares his plans, “2017 is the year I want to be based more in the USA . I look forward to working with different writers from various genres; and keeping a solid view of my end goal.” Jordi is also set to release his debut single, Mambo, his year.
As one who discovered a new passion, while pursuing another, Jordi says, “I always want to remind people that you never have to start at a young age to make your dreams come true. If you have enough time and dedication to pursue what you want… you will achieve it!”
Exceptional talent aside, Jordi Whitworth has gotten this far and will go further because of his optimistic attitude, grit and hard work (remember his demand for a sing off when Overload was eliminated?). The journey towards realising your dreams is never going to be smooth-sailing, but you have to chin up and roll with the punches. Because, the best things in life never come easy.
