He is the trainer responsible for many such statuesque bodies in the city of Bangalore. NCF is one of the highest ranked gyms in the city. He and his team train individuals with specific goals that range from general fitness to sports related power-ups. The gym is popular for their Authentic Athletic Performance Training.
Having been a former Ranji level cricketer and later a fitness coach for state level cricketers, Abinav aspired to bring real athletic fitness to the masses and started Street Fit which was the precursor to Namma CrossFit.”
Nasir who is CF-L1 certified (cross-fit trained) was inspired by Abinav Shankar Narayan’s outdoor guerrilla training sessions. So taken was Nasir that along with Abhinav and a few other trainers, Nasir co-founded Namma CrossFit, which is now known as National Corps Fitness. Speaking of the inspiration that started the tale of NCF, Nasir says, “Having been a former Ranji level cricketer and later a fitness coach for state level cricketers, Abinav aspired to bring real athletic fitness to the masses and started Street Fit which was the precursor to Namma CrossFit.” Abhinav pitched the idea of setting up Bangalore’s first CrossFit facility to Nasir, and rest as they say is history.
We have now expanded to many corners of our fast growing city, and aspire to be one of the country’s top fitness chains in the years to come.”
Accompanying the gym’s raging success have been several trials and tribulations. Nasir recalls the dreadful first day, “We were five coaches waiting in anticipation of clients showing up, having put the word out there that we were in business. Imagine our state of mind when precisely ONE person showed up. Thoughts of ‘What have we done? Should we bail out before it’s too late?’ were swirling in our heads.” Though things got better and bigger from that first day, they still had to face a number of problems including leaking roofs, employees leaving and trying to take the clients with them. Nasir adds, “We experienced all the heartaches and growing pains that a start-up goes through.”
According to Nasir, Namma CrossFit transforming into National Corps Fitness is a step in the direction of more inclusive and holistic fitness programs, while maintaining the same commitment to excellence in delivering world class fitness. With a booming business under his belt, Nasir speaks of the opportunities heading their way, “We have now expanded to many corners of our fast growing city, and aspire to be one of the country’s top fitness chains in the years to come.”
Running like a well-oil machine, National Corps Fitness has turned out to be the perfect bold course of profession for Nasir Masood.
