Struggling to get and manage domestic help? Fed up of the cleaning, fractured plumbing, and pest attacks?  These are some of the real and frustrating problems for working couples, single working dads and moms, or any person residing in a fast-paced metro city for that matter. However, these issues are no longer a crazy planning and scheduling nightmare. Reason? An ingenious idea conceptualized by a working mother who herself was plagued by such troubles. She came up with a perfect solution: Timesaverz. Debadutta Upadhyaya, along with her teammate, Lovnish Bhatia, founded this start-up. The 24×7 on-demand online home-servicing venture provides professional help for numerous domestic chores. In a short span of time, this service met with such high demand and positive response, that it set up branches in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, and will soon be expanding to Chennai.

From struggling to set up a team that would make a dull and boring home services business an enticing one, to learning to have a blinkered vision focused on unit economics when everyone else around you were on an advertising blitzkrieg, we have had our challenges.”

Having always been inclined towards entrepreneurship, and with 30 years of combined experience in marquee advertising and media companies, Debadutta and her partner finally found the perfect reason to start their business in July 2012. Proof of the company’s rapid growth: they raised over 2.3 million dollars from Unilazer Ventures in 2015.

Despite tremendous growth, the once two-hub company has witnessed tumultuous and challenging times. “From struggling to set up a team that would make a dull and boring home services business an enticing one, to learning to have a blinkered vision focused on unit economics when everyone else around you were on an advertising blitzkrieg, we have had our challenges.”, says the CEO. Proving that with no pain there can be no gain, Debadutta further adds, “Now, we look into the financials and realize that our focus on unit economics has been holding us in good stead and helping us weather the storms that engulfed many others in this space.”

With her parents saying “One must do the best in whatever endeavours they take on” and her husband saying, “It’s better to chase your dream than regret not giving it a try.”, Debadutta didn’t lack support from her family while she tackled the challenges on the work front. Initially though, they were apprehensive about Debadutta foraying into the blue-collared unorganised segment from the organised media sector.

With Timesaverz’s growth keeping her fully occupied, Debadutta says, “I have a full day job at hand now and to make it a successful one, I have to constantly innovate, re-engineer things, and test out hypotheses. For now I have no room for any other project. At the moment everything revolves around Timesaverz.”

Use Timesaverz and Debadutta Upadhyaya as an example, motivation, and inspiration to get out of bed and do what you want and feel is right for you.
