Vamil Sangoi, Jugal Choksi, Dhruvi Dharia, and Anshini Jhaveri, the founders of Intern Theory; a platform for students across India to help students find internships. Intern Theory was conceptualized in December 2012 when four friends were facing a problem in getting an internship themselves. The engineering students, who later turned entrepreneurs, successfully founded the company in February 2016, helping thousands of students in receiving a hassle-free internship. They didn’t plan out to be entrepreneurs they say, and further add, “We were all engineering students back then, doing the balancing act like any normal student. Entrepreneurship came along the way, it was a gradual process.”

We were all engineering students back then, doing the balancing act like any normal student. Entrepreneurship came along the way, it was a gradual process.”

The courageous journey of the founders to create Intern Theory is an admirable one. From not receiving enough support from college authorities to the decision to keep the “Intern Theory” dream alive post college, the blooming entrepreneurs faced with life changing decisions that could swing either way after choose to live the entrepreneurial dream.  To make their decision of pursuing this dream even harder, they had to drop attractive offers from reputed MNCs, knowing that the short-term returns from their business venture would be less than comparable to the offers that rejected. However, their family were entirely supportive of the endeavour towards creating a hassle-free platform for students looking for internships.

The internship market is very unorganized and we plan to leverage technology to make the entire process of getting and posting an internship hassle-free for both students and companies.”

Their future plans are elementary in concept, but only a determined set of minds like the engineers can actually materialize this a one-stop solution for all internship related matters. The business persons say, “The internship market is very unorganized and we plan to leverage technology to make the entire process of getting and posting an internship hassle-free for both students and companies.” By reaching out to as many students as possible, while educating them about the importance of the internship at the same time, they are building a robust technological structure for companies to make their hiring process simple, quick and seamless.

The path less taken comes with a lot of lessons that may be painful; circumstances that may make you doubt yourself, but it is the success that makes it all worth.  The engineering quartet would like to help others by advising, “Build and develop your idea, trust yourself. Don’t be scared to make mistakes, learn from them. There are a lot of success stories around to motivate us.”
