Back in school, was when Sharvi Yadav performed for the first time on stage. The first ever song she had performed was “Because of you”, by Kelly Clarkson. At that point in her life, Sharvi didn’t even know if she had it in her to be a musician, to please music listeners worldwide. However, her teacher, Tracy Fernandes, knew she could sing and had a lot of faith in Sharvi. Years later, the talented musician wins the Indian musical reality show, The Stage 2, and she owes it all to her music teacher in school. The musician says, “I never realized that music was my calling but my teacher knew it all. Tracy Fernandes. I sing because of you.”

The power of social media
Her road to success all began with a video that she posted on Facebook. A jazz version of ‘All about bass’ went viral. She was so amused that she received an overwhelming response, and even happier when Ehsaan Noorani himself, one of the judges of ‘The Stage’, said, “I hope you are auditioning for The Stage 2.” The musician who was overwhelmed with joy couldn’t believe her eyes and jumped into the opportunity and landed into the forefront of the reality show.
When I lost my voice, I never really thought that I could sing ever again. My confidence had diminished, and my hope, extinguished. It was the most difficult phase in my life because I didn’t have any direction to follow.”
What would you do in the face of adversity?
Behind the face of success, there were hardships and doubt felt moments. After her doctor broke the news that she had developed nodules that caused her to lose her voice, the singer was devastated and scared. To amplify the fear, the doctor suggested surgery in case her condition didn’t improve. Sharvi says, “When I lost my voice, I never really thought that I could sing ever again. My confidence had diminished, and my hope, extinguished. It was the most difficult phase in my life because I didn’t have any direction to follow.” However, in a span of a few months, she started to recover and has never taken anything for granted since then.
Sacrifices for success
Sharvi has now taken a bold decision and moved to Bombay to pursue music. Giving up comfort and luxury for music only shows her dedication and determination towards her passion. She now feels content with life, and is currently working on her debut single with Universal Music. Simultaneously doing gigs and creating a new project called SYL (Sharvi Yadav Live), it’s fair to say that the musician is wearing a lot of hats and pulling it off as well. We are proud and honored to have such a talent in our nation and can only imagine where Sharvi Yadav is going from here.
