Comfortable heels are almost oxymoronic words in today’s world of fashion. However, the determination of the young entrepreneur, Veena Ashiya Chindlur, has created a mouse trap for women looking for comfortable heels. Monrow is a company that revolves around the basic concept of making heels more comfortable and making women’s shoes more functional, rather than looking at them merely as objects of design.  Veena says, “In India, there is a huge gap when it comes to women’s footwear, in terms of quality as well as functionality.”

In India, there is a huge gap when it comes to women’s footwear, in terms of quality as well as functionality.”

Solving a universal problem

Having had the problem of compromising on style for comfort and vise versa herself, and since most women had the same complaint, Veena was motivated to solve this bothersome problem. And since the entrepreneur had already worked in fashion previously, it becomes just a tad bit easier for her to design quality products. She says, “Having been from the fashion space, designs come naturally to me and working with Versace and Tommy Hilfiger developed my brand building skills”

Entrepreneurship is like standing in a boxing ring, unaware of where the next punch would come from. It is unpredictable and extremely hard but, it is the best form of human growth.”

Dodging the hooks and jabs

Within six months of inception, ‘Future Group’ partnered with Monrow as their retail partner. This validated their brand massively since brands usually take two to three years to be noticed by large retailers. However, entrepreneurship is a tough profession and is very unpredictable, but, there is a silver lining. She says, “Entrepreneurship is like standing in a boxing ring, unaware of where the next punch would come from. It is unpredictable and extremely hard but, it is the best form of human growth.”

Empowering the world to empower yourself

Moving on, Veena is very optimistic about growing her brand in the Indian market. She says that the new tax policies and transparency in the government policies are all indicators of a brighter market and the entrepreneur has already switched gears in capturing a larger customer base. She is an inspiration to every aspiring business person and wants to tell them that, “Being surrounded by the people who believe in you is what every entrepreneur should build to survive difficult moments.” Empowering the world to empower yourself is the motto Veena lives by and living by it is sure to get your feet on the right track.
