How Going Against His Family’s Desires Worked Out For The Best

in Entrepreneur by

Setting up a business was tabooed in Anurag Sinha’s family as they found a regular 9-5 job to be more secure. However, the entrepreneur was always fascinated by calculating the profits and losses in a business. This very peculiar interest led Anurag to start-up ‘Delimedy’; an online pharmacy that delivers medicines to the doorstep of their customers within six hours. The entrepreneur says, “The idea is to provide a phenomenal customer experience while aiming at making it easier for people to purchase medicines with as little effort as possible. We aren’t there yet, but we strive to get there very soon.”

After my 10th boards, I had to relentlessly go against my family’s desire of them wanting me to take up science. I’m glad I stood by the decision to take up commerce. Had I not, I’d most probably be working in an IT related job instead of working on Delimedy.”

Relentlessly going against his family

Anurag says that he was always subconsciously inclined towards doing business, and goes on to say, “After my 10th boards, I had to relentlessly go against my family’s desire of them wanting me to take up science. I’m glad I stood by the decision to take up commerce. Had I not, I’d most probably be working in an IT related job instead of working on Delimedy.” The company however started taking shape after a personal incident that Anurag experienced. When asked by his father to procure some medicines, he had forgotten to do so in a few days. That’s when it hit the entrepreneur that there was no major player in the online pharmacy space that was similar to Grofers or Big Basket.  The ones that did, had a very weak presence and took days to deliver the medicines. This was the inception of the idea that created the foundation of Delimedy, and to say the least, Anurag and the company has come a long way since then.

I’m scared of doing that. I have in the past worked on two ventures simultaneously but that was a blunder. I believe a Start-up needs 200% of your time and focus. Therefore, I am only working on Delimedy.”

When giving it a 100% is just not enough

During the journey of coming a long way, Anurag had to overcome a lot of challenges. From finding a great Co-Founder, Abhishek, to acquiring customers and gaining their trust in Delimedy’s services, it hasn’t been an easy journey for the persistent entrepreneur. Having gained the experiences and references to deal with these challenges, Anurag can steadily move on in expanding Delimedy and giving it a 100% of his time and energy. The entrepreneur is hesitant and apprehensive in venturing out into other endeavors, and goes on to say, “I’m scared of doing that. I have in the past worked on two ventures simultaneously but that was a blunder. I believe a Start-up needs 200% of your time and focus. Therefore, I am only working on Delimedy.” Delimedy is also looking to collaborate with other passionate entrepreneurs with great companies that can help take Delimedy to the next level, and, with the passionate team that they have, we’re sure they’re getting there soon enough.
