in Entertainment by

After a sudden urge of wanting to give up music that she’s been enjoying doing for 24 years, Swapna Abraham instead took up a challenge of recording 1000 songs in 1000 days. She says, “I had performed the globe over, published 20 odd albums, impressed upon thousands of people with the ‘gift’ of music; but at that point felt that it was all futile having left me unfulfilled. In that state, I did the strangest of things—I wrote another song ‘Be Strong’.” The following day is when the bold and passionate musician came up How Swapna Abraham’s vow during adversity helped rekindle her passion with the idea of writing 1000 songs in 1000 days. After writing two songs in two consecutive days, Swapna was convinced that she could do it for 1000 days.

Laser-like focus

The musician has a PGDM from T.A Pai Management institute and an EPSM from IIM (K). she says, “ I’m passionate about worship, leadership, education and interior design. All of my work experience besides music has been in education and interior design with the exception of my very different admin role in a global management consulting firm.”  However, she believes that becoming an admin here has helped her stay focused on her goal.

As the bus was going through some part of Germany, I felt this song coming up from the pit of my heart. I came back to the UK and completed it on the piano. It was really special getting to record it twenty-three years later!”

Above & Beyond

Two days before the challenge could begin, she went above and beyond her goal by vowing to do two songs a day and therefore a total of 2000 songs in 1000 days. As if 1000 songs weren’t hard enough, Swapna pushes her limit yet again to only prove that she’s cut from a different cloth as others. The one extra song a day, she says, is for children. She says about the decision,”The decision has cost me much for reasons I am not mentioning, but was required for the purpose of integrity, and eventually is serving a great cause.”

The power of discipline

Swapna recorded her first song at the age of 15 which was not published, but she never realized that she could write songs. However, 23 years later, while on a vacation she completed the song. She says, “As the bus was going through some part of Germany, I felt this song coming up from the pit of my heart. I came back to the UK and completed it on the piano. It was really special getting to record it twenty-three years later!” The power of discipline has really paid off for Swapna and this vow that she has made has made given her the reference experience to regain this discipline she has built in any other aspects of her life. She is truly a role model for everyone aspiring to achieve, courageously, anything in life.
