After being involved with startup journalism, Abhilasha Dafria was introduced to the start-up ecosystem in India. What she realized was that many entrepreneurs had grand ideas, but had a hard time executing it due to the lack of a relevant network. To bridge this gap, Abhilasha founded Venturator. Combining the words ‘venture’ and ‘accelerator’, the company’s motto is to help startups accelerate from point A to point Bin the shortest span of time. Their primary focus is to help entrepreneurs raise money from their global network of investors and also help them connect to all essential connections who could help them in their journey of building the company of their dreams. Abhilasha says, “Every time a start-up raises money from us or benefits from us in any shape or form gives us a special high.”

 Ups and downs

However, the high came with a lot of lows. Challenges are all a part of the entrepreneurial journey according to Abhilasha. She says, “I have somehow mustered the courage to not look at the negatives of the journey. I’m sure whenever that day will come; the universe will shut all doors for me. Until then, through every hardship, I keep myself very solution-oriented and focussed on making things work out”. The biggest challenge in the embryonic stage of the business for the entrepreneur was to build a team without any money. The challenges keep popping up in the start-up world. Overcoming it successfully is what separates the successful ventures from the unsuccessful ones.

Untapped Potential

Moving forward, Venturator is looking to set up more such spaces soon. For now, they work with pretty much every raising company in India and almost all angels as well. Abhilasha feels that the world is shrinking however and raising funds from NRIs is a huge untapped market. She says, “We’ve therefore tied up with a global real estate company and are now setting up an office in London to explore the viability of foreign investment in high growth markets, starting with India.” We’re sure that this vibrant entrepreneur is going to be the cause of the exponential rise in start-ups here in India, and we are banking on her to make it happen.
