Sapna Book House has been a household name in Bangalore as well as Karnataka for around 50 inspiring years. Determined to not let it stop there, Nijesh Shah, a young man passionate about technology, decided to create an online presence for the book house and created Sapna Infoway. From a small 10X10 sq ft of retail space to 400,000 sq ft of retail, 6000+ titles of publication, eCommerce, EduTech and Import & Exports, Sapna has come a long way.
Self-growth and aspirations
A competitive and hardworking man, Nijesh’s first stint into the Business world was back in 2010 during his 2nd year in college when his friend Anand and he conducted Bangalore’s First Car Treasure Hunt in association with ‘Save the Tiger’ movement. Motivated by the success of this high budget event, the so called entrepreneurial bug struck him, getting him motivated to start innovative business verticals. He realized that the entire ‘book, content and education’ space was something he could associate with really well and wanted to embed tech into this space. Eventually in the year 2012, Sapna Infoway was born with the vision of creating a one stop technology enabled solution providing platform that gives access to books, digital content, academic content, e-learning, readership platforms and school & institutional supplies under one umbrella.
Support platform and inspirations
To Nijesh it is an absolutely amazing experience to be part of a prestigious band like Sapna. Following in the footsteps of his family, he says “I am fortunate to get this platform and whatever little I have achieved today it is only because of leveraging the brand Sapna and the kind of backing I have received from the family.” He commends his family on their speed, resilience, toughness and most importantly their commitment. To him his family is a natural team and that’s what makes them better each day.

Facing challenges and new ventures head on
SapnaOnline(SOL) had a modest beginning of shipping out 10 books a day in the year end 2012. 18 months hence, SOL shipped out 2500+ orders a single day, each order having an average bucket size of 5 products. Today it ships out 3500+ orders a day. To achieve a feat like this, it’s no surprise that one would face innumerable challenges every day. Not letting anything get them down, they acquired 3 other properties on the internet – Bookadda.com , Acadzone.com and Magicskool.com. With these 4 put together, we see a massive growth in the Book, content and Education internet world!
Always ask the question ‘WHY’ every time you get frustrated. Not every day is going to be the best. Infact, most of the days are going to be extremely hard, and at that time you must ask the question ‘WHY” to yourself, remind WHY you even ventured into this idea, WHY you are doing this.”
Advice to budding entrepreneurs
To Nijesh, people who want to make a difference, learn anything that is needed to succeed and don’t let obstacles stop them from shying away from anything. Providing some motivation to the aspiring, he says, “Always ask the question ‘WHY’ every time you get frustrated. Not every day is going to be the best. Infact most of the days are going to be extremely hard, and at that time you must ask the question ‘WHY” to yourself, remind WHY you even ventured into this idea, WHY you are doing this.” Lastly, he mentions that building quality relationships is key, be it with your partners, clients or teammates. The old adage about “It’s not what you know, it’s WHO you know” is true.
