The Band That Started Out With A Purpose Of Having The Time Of Their Lives

in Entertainment by

A growing field like music constantly has newcomers that are not always welcomed with open arms.  Hundred Handed, however, after testing their abilities and skills in separate bands previously, decided that starting their own band was a risk they were willing to take. And oh, how glad we are that they did! Sitting on the side of the road, all together, sure got them inspired enough to do what they love.

Music with a purpose

Hundred Handed started off as three boys locked in a room trying to find their combination of sound while having fun. Trying to make music the universal language, they locked themselves in a room, listened to each other’s favourite songs and threw what if scenarios at each other. When asked how music inspires them, they replied saying, “The way you feel, the way you want to feel, the way you remember feeling years ago… It can all be recalled or explained with melody or tone. There’s nothing else in the world that has that kind of immediate power over the way you feel. Not to us anyway.” The band started with the purpose of having the time of their lives, playing the music they love and making sure people have fun along with them. To say that they got the unapologetic energy right, mixed with the excitement of doing their favourite thing in the world would be an understatement.

A new world of sound

With technology taking over the music industry, we asked them where their opinion stands on the usage of technology to create real sound and music. To them technology is definitely a pro despite it being abused, considering if one respects the process of creating their music, technology can open up a whole new world of sounds and control.

Support system in a tough world

Hundred Handed often comically joke about not being good at anything else but when seriously asked about any other professional interests, they say how from the second they each understood the possibilities of their instruments and that was pretty much it. And, if it wasn’t a band it would be them writing jingles for commercials or building instruments for other people… Something MUSIC!  As for their support system in this crazy world, they reply saying “Lucky for us, our parents were all encouraging and very open to the idea of us locking ourselves in a tin can and traveling around the world playing songs for people.”

It’s no doubt that the world needs more of this ambitious support to get us motivated!

Advice to the ambitious

Hundred Handed are always writing, recording and practicing in their studio for upcoming ventures, one of which is to release very soon. Along the way, they part with some advice, “Practice and push yourself harder than ever before. Be nice to everyone who is a part of this success or failure, it’s a community, not a competition. Finally, never be afraid to take constructive criticism, it could shift your vision to something you never saw before. Oh and have fun always.”
