Not everyone can afford to buy their favourite luxury car whether it’s an Audi, a BMW or a Maybach. But what if you could rent out your dream car just for a day or two and experience the power and luxury of sitting behind the wheel of a Jag or a Mustang? Head to Hype, an online marketplace for luxury car rentals and make your driving dreams come true!

Launched in 2016, HYPE offers luxury car rental services to people both in self-drive as well as chauffeur driven categories. Offering convenience (bookings), and creating memorable experiences at affordable prices are the key missions of HYPE. Recently expanded to over 42 cities and with a large fleet of 3000+ Luxury cars, HYPE is the #1 Luxury car rental company in India.

Raghav Belavadi has been a serial entrepreneur since 2011. He’s worked with some of the biggest global corporates including Accenture. His strong desire to “create” rather than “manage” ultimately led him to start his own company and embark on his own mission.

HYPE is growing faster than our expectations and we would like to get more organized to deliver better for our customers. Our vision is to grow in more number of cities and acquire bigger fleets so that we can offer more to our customers.”

“Steve Jobs is my biggest inspiration,” says Raghav. Developing impeccable product features and disruptive marketing strategies are some of the key lessons that he has learned from him. Raghav spends a lot of his time interacting with creative, successful people, reads journals and leaves the rest to the metaphysics that help him concoct and produce a beautiful blend of ideas. Asking for help, reviewing his opinions with his team and seeking feedback from customers are the key elements in Raghav’s entrepreneurial journey.

The “Driving” Factor Behind The Business

It was Raghav’s parents’ 50th wedding anniversary and he wanted to give them a surprise dinner at a star hotel along with the thrill of riding in a luxury car. It was a lot of hassle to search for, negotiate and book the car that he wanted. Finally, when the day arrived, Raghav received a completely different car than what he had asked for. The agent left him high and dry with ridiculous not to mention annoying justifications. It was then that Raghav realized that there must be thousands of others out there who may have faced similar problems on their special occasions. So, initially, Raghav planned to aggregate luxury cars in

Bangalore but later, since the response was so overwhelming, Raghav ended up expanding his business to other cities too.

“My family has been a pillar of support in all my ventures,” says a very grateful Raghav. Whether it was his initial days when things were just starting up and were obviously a bit difficult or later on when he could slowly taste his sweet success, his family always stood by him and believed in his startup 100 percent. In fact, one of his company’s angel investors is his very own sister Vijaya. All in all, whatever Raghav decided to pursue in life, be it a corporate job or entrepreneurship, his family was always by his side offering the best support that they could while encouraging him all the way, every day.

The Road Ahead For HYPE

“HYPE is growing faster than our expectations and we would like to get more organized to deliver better for our customers. Our vision is to grow in more number of cities and acquire bigger fleets so that we can offer more to our customers.” Raghav works with many big corporates, SMBs, and individuals, who are his regular customers. He has also partnered with private jets, business jets, yachts and luxury hotels too. Raghav is certainly enjoying a taste of the high life or in this case the ‘hype’ life!

In about two years, if everything goes as planned, Raghav is thinking of starting HYPE operations in one more country outside India. However, this would require excellency in operations and the rapid growth of his company, which, we’re sure Raghav will accomplish quickly without any speedbumps in the road.

“Success and failure are the two sides of a coin called entrepreneurship,” says this bold and ‘driven’ entrepreneur when asked for advice to give to others looking to start something of their own. “So go ahead and take a risk, toss it up and take your chances. It’s worth it and you could actually make it.” And hey, if you do make it, who knows? You could own your very own car rental company or, better still, buy one of those luxury cars for yourself!
