The Dapper Entrepreneur Behind Uplodefoodie
Mr. Yogesh Arjun Ghorpade is the proud founder and CEO of Uplodefoodie. His 23 years of corporate experience and expertise as a software designer and architect, not to mention, his focus on enterprise mobility solutions has helped him take the company to new heights. He is directly responsible for the complete business development, management and technical operations of the company.
The idea for Uplodefoodie came about when my wife and I witnessed this gap in the industry and realised that a 360-degree solution enhanced with technologies such as AI, machine learning and analytics could solve the major problems that restaurant managers were facing.”
According to him, the burgeoning food industry in India was in dire need of technological intervention, particularly in the B2B segment. While most technology deployed in the sector was aimed at customer experience and satisfaction, restaurants are now realising the benefits that they can derive from technological uptake.
“The idea for Uplodefoodie came about when my wife and I witnessed this gap in the industry and realised that a 360-degree solution enhanced with technologies such as AI, machine learning and analytics could solve the major problems that restaurant managers were facing.”
Mr. Yogesh expresses his desire for always wanting to start something of his own, after having gained almost two decades of experience in the service industry. He found the F&B industry extremely disorganised and wanted to zero in on it. As soon as the idea for Uplodefoodie hit him, Mr. Yogesh didn’t waste any time quitting his cushy, high-paying job and tread down the adventurous path of entrepreneurship. “Seeing the unimaginable success of Uplodefoodie, I am glad I took that bold decision in 2013”, says the proud and prestigious entrepreneur.
A Dream Too Good to Be True?
When asked if he ever felt like his dream to reach such heights of success wouldn’t come true, Mr. Yogesh expresses openly, “There were definitely moments in the past when I felt like my entrepreneurial dreams wouldn’t come true. The journey was especially challenging during Uplodefoodie’s incubation period while we were introducing the novel concept of 360-degree tech solutions for restaurants.” Mr. Yogesh expresses that the F&B industry is highly volatile due to many factors and that it takes an unparalleled effort to spread awareness about the same.
“In the initial months, we had long-winding discussions with restaurant owners who
were reluctant to come on-board due to our unfamiliar concept. However, instead of backing out, we saw this as an opportunity to streamline our solutions.”
We have built a robust and all-encompassing platform that caters to the food and beverage industry. Further, we are looking for concentrated niche markets where our solutions can streamline the day-to-day working of restaurants.”
He would take into careful consideration any doubts and challenges faced by restaurant owners/managers to improve their performance and used that input to build a product that seamlessly suited the F&B market and increase its value immensely.
“My wife, Payal has always been there for me every step of the way from ideation to execution.”
During the initial stages of uncertainty to the current stage of success, Mr. Yogesh has expressed that his wife has always been his pillar of strength and has not just been supportive but has also contributed to the creation of the company. “I had her unwavering support since the beginning.” Kudos to a man of his power and prominence to give such immense recognition to the woman behind his success! Guess the saying, ‘Behind every successful man is a woman’, is undoubtedly a hard fact.
As far as Mr. Yogesh’s siblings and parents are concerned, even though they did have their fair share of apprehensions initially, they eventually came around and believed in his passion and ideas, and supported him throughout his journey.
The Future for This Forward-Thinking Entrepreneur
“We have built a robust and all-encompassing platform that caters to the food and beverage industry. Further, we are looking for concentrated niche markets where our solutions can streamline the day-to-day working of restaurants.”
The power entrepreneur aims to reach 3000+ restaurants in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities in Maharashtra within the next six months, following which he plans to initiate Pan-Indian operations. “Additionally, we are working on a solution through which we can merge food delivery and social associations.”
We’re sure that this giant of a thinker and doer has loads of advice for other young and upcoming entrepreneurs aiming to pursue their dreams: “An essential lesson I’ve learned from my journey is that if you quit, you are turning down success.”
However, as we suspected, the no-nonsense, brilliant and bold Mr. Yogesh, keeps it crystal clear and to the point – “I’d like to advise budding entrepreneurs to be persevering and diligent in their endeavours. Through unwavering persistence, any dream, whether big or small, can sooner or later be achieved.”
